GRANDMA LAND EXCERPT
Written by Brenda Ringhardt and Denise Sery
SCENE 67-68
INT. ROBERT'S OFFICE -DAY
Robert is working at his desk. He hears a knock on the door,
which is open and looks up to find Annette. She's dressed in
a sexy short dress with spike heeled pumps. Annette walks
around to Robert. She leans over and puts her breasts in his
face.
ANNETTE
I've missed you.
ROBERT
Annette, I'm busy, very busy.
She sits down on top of the desk. She puts one foot on the
arm of his chair and the other foot on the back. She leans
back and puts her hands on the desk in a sexy pose.
ROBERT (CONT'D)
It's not going to work this time.
Susan walks in.
SUSAN
Hey, Robert, I just wanted to ask
you--
Susan sees Annette.
SUSAN (CONT'D)
(fumbling)
Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know you
had company.
Susan storms out. Robert crawls under Annette's leg to get
away from her and starts after Susan.
ROBERT
Susan, wait, Susan, let me explain--
He rushes down the hall behind her, she doesn't stop until
she's in her office.
INT. SUSAN'S OFFICE -DAY
Robert follows her in, and closes the door behind him.
ROBERT
If you'll let me explain--
SUSAN
Explain the fact that you're
sleeping with the boss's daughter.
ROBERT
It's not like that, Hezowitz knows
all about it.
SUSAN
And that makes it better how?
ROBERT
Well, it's not like I don't have
his approval.
SUSAN
Damn it, Robert, who cares about
Hezowitz?
ROBERT
Isn't that who we're talking about?
SUSAN
Always answering my questions with
a question. What is wrong with
you, Robert?
ROBERT
I'm just trying to explain.
SUSAN
Explain to me how you got your job
by sleeping with her and I got my
job by busting my ass 24/7.
Robert tries to interject but Susan keeps going.
SUSAN (CONT'D)
(talking to herself)
I've always been smarter than all
these men. I've always been able
to do things better.
ROBERT
Is that what this is all about? You
being better than me?
SUSAN
Just when I'm going to win, some
man comes along and cheats because
he can't win any other way.
ROBERT
Just because a woman finds me
attractive doesn't mean I'm a
cheater.
SUSAN
No, you are a cheater, yesterday,
at the theme park . . . you know
what this is, just another booger
on my forehead!
ROBERT
What?
SUSAN
When I was eight years old. A
booger right here.
(points to forehead)
Susan leans across the desk and as Robert leans forward to
look at her forehead their eyes meet. Both of them pause and
stare at each other nostrils flaring.
ROBERT
(amazed)
Bug?
SUSAN
What did you call me?
ROBERT
Bug? Is that you?
SUSAN
Get out.
ROBERT
I didn't know, did you...?
SUSAN
Get out, now!
She throws something on her desk and breaks a glass table
near by. Robert puts up his hands, and bows out backwards.
He gets half way in the door of his office and Rhonda BUZZES
him.
RHONDA (V.O.)
Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep
and doesn't know where to find
them.
Going back to his desk, disgusted. Annette grabs Robert by
the tie and tries to pull him to her. Robert fights her off.
ROBERT
Enough with the nursery rhymes,
Rhonda.
RHONDA (V.O.)
Ms. Snyder from Grandland is on
line two. She says it's very
important.
ROBERT
Okay, put her on.
MS. SNYDER
Mr. Brown, I was just calling to
check on Opal, since she wasn't
here today.
ROBERT
What do you mean? I dropped her
off there this morning.
MS. SNYDER
Are you sure? We haven't seen her
all day.
ROBERT
Of course I'm sure.
MS. SNYDER
Well, Mr. Brown, Opal isn't here.
ROBERT
You mean, you've lost my grandma?
Robert rushes out of the office, Annette reaching for him,
slips and flips over off the desk and lands with her skirt
over head.
ANNETTE
Daddy!!!!
